As it is now mandatory for the listed company to have at least one woman on the board of directors, women are empowered to participate in leadership responsibilities. Captain Reem Al Buainain is military personnel and was selected to attend Nato school, a prestigious training & education facility for the military. She is a mother of three and has been a part of the military for ten years.

Although women are only 30% of the UAE population, they drive the UAE economy with expertise as leaders in various sectors. Emirati women are role models for many females and males in the UAE. Emirati women thrive to continue holding leadership positions even in the male-dominated industry. The community of Emirati women is very encouraging and supportive to patrons. Dr. Dalya Al Muthanna is the president of General Electric in the UAE, where she is also the Global Chief of Strategy & Operations for GE International. Likewise, Dr. Saeeda Jaffar is the Group Country Manager and Vice President for Visa in Gulf. Previously, she has served as a leader for companies like Alvarez & Marsal, Bain & Company, and McKinsey & Company. Dr. Saeeda has been mentoring many young professionals to
achieve better careers. Additionally, she believes women are holistically solving problems in a more complex environment.

A cultural dignitary of women in UAE

Women are born with innate cognizance of art and culture. And as they effortlessly understand the importance and value of sharing cultural knowledge, women have been prime contributors in this emerging sector. Emirati women are a vital part of the cultural industry by working as curators, educators, archeologists, architects, art promoters, event managers, artists, designers, and in many more roles.

Emirati women as leaders in the cultural industry work as media spokeswoman, research managers, heads of art galleries and museums, festival organizers, and so forth. With more women contributing to the culture of the UAE, it is flourishing and has witnessed remarkable changes.

Noura Al Kaabi, as the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has the vision to make some incredible transformation to thrive the UAE culture globally. In the publishing sector, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi is leading the way as the Vice President of the International Publishers Association. She is making an impact by attaining such a significant position internationally.

Moreover, Nujoom Alghanem has also gained immense success as an international writer from UAE. Today’s educational and professional benefits to women in UAE are possible by the vision of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the establishment of the UAE, his vision encompassed women taking senior roles in all sectors, which led to better school systems and university
programs. That empowered many women in UAE to pursue higher education.

As a result, more than 50% of women representatives in the Federation National Council and nearly 30% of the Cabinet of the UAE are women.
